This house, declared a national monument since Nov. 16th 1939, is the birthplace of the great naturalist Lazzaro Spallanzani, born here on Nov. 12th 1729.

The Civic Tower, or Clock Tower, popularly called “Campanone” (local dialect) was the original main entrance to the fortress’ medieval borough.
